Why I Need a Protocol
As a STEM educator, I teach my students about the scientific method — observation, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, conclusion. But I realized that same rigorous approach applies to life's mistakes too.
"El error no es el final de la historia." The mistake is not the end of the story. It's just the beginning of a new chapter.
The Five-Step Recovery Protocol
Step 1: Observe Without Judgment
When something goes wrong, the first step is to simply observe what happened. No blame, no shame — just data. What was the temperature? What was the timing? What were the conditions?
In my kitchen, this means noting exactly when the mole started to burn. In my classroom, it means documenting exactly where a lesson fell flat.
Step 2: Hypothesize the Root Cause
Now we ask "why?" Was it the heat too high? The ingredients not quite right? The timing off? We form a hypothesis about what went wrong.
This is where science meets intuition. Sometimes the data tells us one thing, but our experience tells us another. Both matter.
Step 3: Design an Experiment to Test
Now we create a new approach. Maybe we lower the heat. Maybe we change the order of ingredients. Maybe we try a different teaching method.
This is where creativity comes in. Every failed mole is an opportunity to discover a new technique, a new flavor combination, a new way to teach.
Step 4: Execute and Document
Now we try again, but this time we document everything. We take notes, we measure, we taste, we observe. We're not just cooking or teaching — we're conducting research.
"La curiosidad es el mejor ingrediente." Curiosity is the best ingredient.
Step 5: Analyze and Share
Finally, we analyze what we learned. What worked? What didn't? And most importantly — we share it with everyone. Because your mistake could be someone else's breakthrough.
This is why I'm writing this page. So you can learn from my failures, just as I've learned from yours.
The Philosophy Behind the Protocol
This isn't just about cooking or teaching. This is about how we approach every challenge in life. Every broken bowl, every failed experiment, every lesson that didn't land — it's all data.
"Cada caída es una oportunidad para levantarse más fuerte." Every fall is an opportunity to rise stronger.
What Comes Next?
This protocol is just the beginning. I'm constantly refining it, learning from every new challenge, every new failure, every new success.
